Rumah Buku

Dear, i tell you Rumah Buku is cool. There are many things there that you know it’s cool but you don’t actually realize that it really is a cool, because the only way to really know whether it is cool, or it is a capital, italic, underlined COOL is to come around there in a casual manner, grab some of the books randomly, grab a vietnamese coffee, pack of peanuts too, look around the grass in its back, inhale, exhale, and keep it like that, bless.

And so anyway, i got there last monday , i mean we got there. I was meeting Anex by chance, this man.

Mind blowing isn’t he?  I knew it. Well ladies, this is Anex. First and foremost, Anex is supremely confident womanizer suited in a typical hip urban-outfit (back in the 70’s american urban). Quite much this hip, more or less. But spiritually speaking, really, he’s like the eastern version of young Socrates of our time, and that’s why he’s eventually hanging out in Rumah Buku, because he’s so….. because he is cool. Totally.

Told you.

I believe you would love to sit in here all day, be it sunny or a rainy day, you know just relax, and get your thoughts melted, and have that little faith that your art school kind of girl in your dream going to show up, asking you “OMG, do you love Woody Allen’s too?”, Classic.

Everyone knows the fact that it has refined collection of great books, and music cd(s), as well as movies that could make your eyes pop out.  In it, they’re ranging from the taste of  the obscure rookie, to that far out literary snob, all is here. So if you are (at least) an artist, an architect, or a professional cynic, you’ll be tasting heaven.

Anyway, for me actually it’s not the mere collections that i sense pretty lovely in here, but rather its ever-humble atmosphere that at once would touch your mind the time you just get right at its doormat. The house is absolutely comfy, the backyard is spanking fresh smells of a morning dew; its green is downright the regional’s leader in letting young people lying around for any profound whatnots, The foods are good, the hot tea institution it’s free, and the kepala sekolah, they really are beautiful, they are indeed fairies ;). What comes after that then? A demarcation-free common space. The place where young and not so young people from different social clan, all crammed together in ease, where they can use collection and appreciation of crisscrossing interests to generate a body of cultural exchange, that is truly cool, again.

What to say, it’s a jam-packed place of use, so to speak, not to mention its Architecture, a word, genius ; an unsophisticated late modernistic detached land house consisted of one-storey 70’s house interiors and a sketch paper. Elegance.

In summary, the day went all nice, the Kepala sekolah(s) showed up with their recently bought red wagon and did the Tai-chi with the rest of the folks, Anex finished his pervert poem, there were 2 young germans too did some stuffs, one of ’em wore a tight cool black fred perry’s twin tipped polo shirt but who cares but me, and me,  i finally finished the book, which happened to be cool, because cool is pride comes from knowing and deciding what we see hard to try, but merely more awesome to get it done, because after that you’ll go through your whole life knowing if something is really cool or really not, and fortunately book made even COOL really out-of-my-league.

Cool aint it?  BOOK ME.
